Into Isola district an old storehouse has been transformed in a two storey semi-detached house, with a beautiful greenhouse on the roof terrace hosting an outdoor living room.

The mezzanine hosts the bedrooms and has a mobile floor, which is raised in the hallway to form a parapet.

On the roof there are two paired greenhouses, to create an outdoor living area.

Outdoor flooring is made in WPC – wood plastic composite. This is an artificial material created with wood fibre and thermoplastics, it’s very resistant and resemble natural wood.

Bathrooms take light from the other rooms; thus, walls are in etched glass, whose external part is also a whiteboard.

Project description

In a courtyard of the old Milan is located this two-storey warehouse, surrounded by higher buildings. Just the perimeter walls were preserved from the original construction, the interior space has been re-projected to create two symmetrical semi-detached houses.

The living area is on the ground floor, while bedrooms are located on a mezzanine with mobile floor – which is raised in the hallway to form a parapet. In one of the two units the staircase connecting these two areas is suspended, in order to grant more light. Bathrooms take light from the other rooms; thus walls are in etched glass, whose external part is also a whiteboard. Due to the peculiar structure the furniture was totally custom-made.
